What Is a Company “Perk Store”? (And Why Employees Love It)

What Is a Company “Perk Store”? (And Why Employees Love It)

If you’ve ever tried to order company shirts by email… you already know the pain.

  • “What size are you?”

  • “Can I get it in a hoodie instead?”

  • “Wait, who hasn’t paid yet?”

A company perk store fixes all of that.

What a perk store is (and what it isn’t)

A perk store is a simple online shop for your team to grab branded gear—shirts, hats, hoodies, jackets—without you playing middleman.

It’s not:

  • A complicated eCommerce rebuild

  • A “forever project”

  • Something that requires you to manage inventory in your office

Why it reduces admin work (no more size spreadsheets)

Instead of collecting:

  • sizes

  • colors

  • payments

  • shipping addresses

…you just send your team a link.

Employees order what they want, when they want, and you get your time back.

What to sell (starter product list)

If you want a simple launch that people actually use, start with:

  • 1–2 t-shirt options (one budget, one premium)

  • 1 hoodie or crewneck sweatshirt

  • 1 hat (embroidered)

  • 1 “work” item (polo or quarter-zip)

  • Optional: beanie, jacket, or tumbler

How payments + shipping usually work

Most perk stores run one of these ways:

  • Employee-paid: employees buy their own gear (most common)

  • Company-subsidized: company covers a credit/allowance

  • Mixed: company covers basics, employees can upgrade

Shipping is usually:

  • Ship-to-home (easy)

  • Bulk ship to office (cheaper per order)

How to launch fast (assets needed)

To get a store live quickly, I typically need:

  • Your logo (best file you’ve got)

  • Brand colors (or “use the logo colors”)

  • 3–5 products you want to offer

  • Any rules (who can buy, budget, deadlines)

Common mistakes (and how to avoid them)

  • Too many options → keep it tight at first; add later.

  • No size guidance → include a quick fit note (or size chart links).

  • No timeline → if it’s for onboarding or an event, set a clear deadline.

  • Skipping embroidery on hats → stitched hats look 10x more legit.

Want a perk store set up for your team? Send your logo + 3–5 items you want to offer and I’ll map the fastest launch plan.

You can also setup a discovery call to see if a custom online store is a good fit for your group.  We’ll cover what you need, how it works, and next steps if you decide that it’s a fit.
